Online driving licence checking

As part of the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work Act, all employers have an obligation to demonstrate that reasonable and practicable precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of employees and others whilst its company vehicles are being used. These obligations extend to employees who use their own vehicles for business as well as any person who is allowed to drive a company vehicle – whether an employee or not.

One of the most administratively intensive tasks in maintaining these obligations is to perform regular an in-depth checks on your drivers’ licences. To help employers reduce this administration, CBVC provide an online driving licence verification service - this provides quick and easy access to driver information:

  • Driving licence details including:
    • Convictions/Endorsements/Bans (Current and previous)
    • Drivers with 8 or more penalty points
    • Licence numbers
    • Vehicle categories that the employee/driver is licenced to drive
  • Confirmation that your employees/drivers hold valid driving licences
  • Automatic six month checks of employee/driver licences to monitor changes in the above mentioned

The system is quick and easy to set up. We provide all relevant employees/drivers with a Data Protection mandate that enables CBVC to obtain the relevant information from the DVLA on behalf of your company. In the first instance, all that we require is driver name, address, DOB and licence number. We then collate and sort the relevant data, delivering online reports that you access using a secure username and password. To find out more about online licence checking, call us on 01283 509177.
