Best new car - Astra

Vauxhall Astra

According to Fleet World and announced last week,
The Best New Car is the Vauxhall Astra.

The new model is highly rated for its 'build quality, spacious interior, and well- specified for business customers; and good to drive too'.

After what has been a difficult year for Vauxhall, the new car is 'a car the fleet market wants to buy'.

In the Best Fleet Car category, the Ford Focus picked up the award. Despite the continuing recession, sales of the Focus continued with hardly a stutter from 2009. Overall, the model significantly outstripped all other marques. Fleet World suggested that 'when businesses want a trustworthy, reliable, efficient and attractive fleet car, their first stop is the Ford Focus'.

The judges deliberated long and hard over the Fleet Manufacturer of the Year. They took into account a wide range of criteria, including quality of the range, technical support, reliability and resale values. After extended discussion they all agreed that BMW was the worthy winner.

The Van Manufacturer of the Year Award went to Renault.

Here the judges were impressed by the manufacturer's sales of light CVs in the UK. The new Master was considered a significant improvement and the addition of the Kangoo Maxi makes the model more competitive. Finally, the facelift for the Trafic confirms that a 'soundly designed model launched in the early 2000's can still be an attractive proposition'.
